I'm going to be changing the braid on some of my reels soon.

Should I put backing line on the spool before the braid or just load it up with braid?  And if I use backing line, what should I use?

(Reels to have the new braid are SLOSH20s).

Thanks

i always use backing line (mono) when putting new braid on as its so thin 300 yards doesnt half fill most reels.

just bought some new avets, and filled with sprectra braid from ebay. £23 for 1000 yards 30lb breaking strain. filled all 4 reels but still used mono backing normaly 100m. its no differant than berkly whiplash, but spectra braid is much better value. im done paying £25 per 300 yard spool of whiplash, gets expensive doing 5/6 reels.

look on ebay m8, hundreds of the stuff, comes from asia but so worth the wait.

yer i only filled my boat reels once with braid without backing, the depth of water around here 1 300yrd spool will do two reels, instead of just the one as for the backing aslong as your confidant it will hold any fish your going to catch in these waters it wont matter so much,i would try get the thinest line i can at around 40lb just incase you go deeper, thiner the line is the less streach and surface area it has to catch the tide.
