Hi Guys,
Haven't met anyone so far but feel I know you all. I have certainly learned so much from you and eagerly wanting to meet up on the ogging. Does anyone have any ideas on how to beat this February cabin fever . Perhaps we should have a maintenance schedule for boats and fishing tackle prepared by our experienced members to ensure trouble free fishing for 2012. The most exciting feature lately was Monky Nuts adventure to go on sea trials. Like you all I suppose my efforts have been to make the boat sea worthy for his year. I am currently investigaing an engine overheating problem with a nannie engine (over 3000rpm) and sorting a black mold problem in the stern. Any suggestions on the maintenance schedule?.

Hi John,
14 hp two cylinder nannie, raw water intake is good, new impeller, new oil and filter, new fan belt, plenty of water coming out with the exhaust. Removed all piping and all is clear. Noticed that the top of the engine is too hot to touch after 20 minutes. I get an over heat alarm after 1 hour of useat 2500rpm. This week end I was going to take the heat exchanger off but am currently suffering from man flue hence the over use of the forum. (medicine)

250HE id have thought.
might pay to also check the exhaust elbow too, its very common for them to be partially blocked on smaller engines. also be care full with the heat exchanger, they have got a habit of disintegrating round the end caps. you'll know if its on the dodgy side by the ally furring up around the brass end caps. il send you a pm in a bit cheers john

A good time to give your rods and reels a bit of tlc, also do an inventory on your reserve tackle and get some rigs up together. No time for cabin fever lol

Ahab many thanks, I think it is condensation and rain water. I have passed wires through the rear cabin roof to feed the sat nav (thought I sealed it). Have just noticed water running down the wire. I am spending weekend sorting engine, mold and prevention. Hopefully be back on the ogging fishing soon.
John thank you very much for the invitation to call with regard to overheating I have one more trick to try. Will call if this fails.
Will also service fishing kit once I get it home.
Thanks again guys
Dave
