Got to chesil and forgot to bring money - so couldn't fish ferrybridge end... Opted for Abbotsbury.
Fished clipped 2 & 3 hook clipped rigs baited with macky & squid for the whiting and blacks with squid on clipped pennels on the other rod.

The night was hectic- had 30+ whiting up to a pound, some pout that were all about pound and half, and some big lsd. No cod though.

The smaller baits were being hit ad soon as they hit the bottom... Leaving it out 10 - 15 mins often meant a double or treble shot of fish.

The large lug and squid baits were also being destroyed by whiting. I was hooking the larger whiting on the 5/0 pennels - often leaving out to see if Mr cod would be tempted.

I used all my bait after 5 hours so left for home. Got through 20 very large black lug. 2 packs dirty squid, 2 double packs of mac (16 fillets).

Enjoyable sesh but was gutted I couldn't fish the other end.
Will be heading back as soon as the weather allows. Was a lovely mild evening to be fishing though...

I ended up fishing to the right of the carpark - the place was packed by the time I got there - all I could see was headlights! lol Walked for about 20 mins to the right and got a spot.

Gotrta be in it to win it! lol

Yep - think it's free all the time out of holiday season.

You have to pay at Ferrybridge - bloomin expensive too + you have to pay full whack even through the night!

Hectic night Chris must have been fun. On the suject of leaving fish on the hook in case Mr Cod comes along it is worth noting that the 18lber boated on Friday not only had the Cod on the penel rig but a Pout about 3/4lb on the bottom hook and another about 1/2lb on the top hook, both had been bitten!
Boat name "In the Zone"

Was good fun Al - but the whiting were even ripping apart the large 'cod' baits - I was mumifying the baits in elastic and they just ripped them apart like they were Piranha - Then hooking themselves on the 5/0 hooks lol

I might fish a livebait rig on one rod next weekend (weather allowing) and see what happens! I suppose it will pick out the better fish if they do turn up...
