We are going to west solent for a 3 day fishing stint. Hopefully fishing Totland and Sowley for anything that takes the bait. Looking at taking a turbut as we have never caught one before. Will let you know how we get on. Dave

If you go a bit outside the solent to the dolphin sands off Christchurch can produce turbot and brill.
A long thin strip of fresh mackerel or launce on the drift would be the best bet. Had a few there over the years.

Hi Mako kid, thanks for the advice. we got to Totland and stayed the night loads of mackerel and bass. The weather turned nasty so went back to Newtown where we had fun catching smoothounds and bream and a personal best gurnard. Will try dolphin sands as soon as the weather allows. Cheers Dave

Had an hour or so out yesterday in the sunshine. Had a swim, very refreshing! Caught some mackerel and a few bream. Good fun but not exciting. Hope there is some Sun next week as have the week off to play...J
