Well guys, i gave it a whirl at east lepe, dropped down a couple of delicately crafted sole rigs with size 4 aberdeens baited with juicy ragworm baits, after an hour of nothing i was thinking maybe i was was in a crappy spot as i hadn't even has a schoolie bite, then wallop, line starts peeling off the spool, 10 minutes later i manage to tame a hound of 7lb on 6lb class gear, repeated this circus act 5 times and straitened a few hooks before i got the 12lb class out and 3/0's.
There was no chance of a sole finding the bait last night with the  hounds,  doggies, pout, silver eels and sizeable bass all snaffling the bait within minutes.
A good nights fishing, somewhat off target but cant grumble, nothing massive but all the bass were legal and the hounds gave great sport on the light gear. took one bass for the pan and everything else went back.
I don't know if it was the spot i picked or what but how the hell do you catch sole when all these other species are present?

Bad luck - must say I never had a hound on my sole gear, sounds fun but would have wrecked the traces etc.

They seemed to go mad for the sole gear, i don't know if it was the light snoods and fine wire hooks but it was one a drop until the tide picked up more and the hooks started bending out.
And yes, the snoods were in tatters!

i use swan shot on the short snoods - bats want to be anchored to the bottom. Size 2 thin wire hooks.

How do you rig a bat? Do you use trebles or pennel?
