Well, according to another forum, a comp last night threw up the first Cod, don't know about you - but thats the first I've heard from inshore/beach.....

"14 of us fished the Drayton AC match at Stokes Bay last night(Sat 27th August) to the right of the central car park (Pebbles Wine Bar)not a lot caught but star of the show and the winning weight was an 8Lb 2oz cod.
Bait i believe was ragworm and it was caught at high water on a windy and fairly weed free night."

ive heard of a few coming of the beaches east way. august always throws up a few. i had them most years by mid september of pagam. normaly 2/3lbers

wont be long before they are worth targeting. these massive tides this week will throw a few more up im sure.

personally i cant wait, to say im excited to get out in true blue for some cod action is an understatement. rigs ready, freezer stacked with cuttle and squid, i canny wait!

so do i but who knows! if i have one decent cod this winter it will already better than last winter. 9 charter trips and not a single cod to me. every trip the boat had cod aswell. done my head right in.

but im alot more confidant as ive been given some cod marks from my charter friends. so at least il be in the right area, if i catch will be another matter tho but it wont be for the want of trying!Confused

I'm going to be away for most of the time between mid Oct and end Nov so I think Im going to have to try and target an early cod.  I tried VERY hard for one last year but failed miserably.
2012: whiting, dogfish, smoothhound, turbot (>6lb)

So you wont be to disapointed thi year then duncan, but when you come back give your best shot, there were some big one last year have a look at al [ekyone] picture they were that big he could only get two flakes on a plate,
