Chasing baits to the surface sounds very like garfish behaviour. As they turn away and flash they could look like bream.

2 charters -Fished Hard Grounds Monday & had loads of Smoothies & Rays & a small tope plus a gar. Went back same spot yesterday and could only get dogs. Tried Selsey - dogs & small smoothie. Wind got up - tried further west - dogfish city ! We had 60 plus dogs.

Amazing what a change happens in a day in fishing.

Had a great day fishing west Solent it fished well on ebb and flood. We had 12 good bream and kept 2 for the pot, lots of females full of roe. Spotted ray and the usual dogs. It was freezing and rained most of the pm.

Well done Dave. Sounds like a productive day in far from pleasant conditions.
Did you stay in the Solent, or venture past Hurst?
Much weed yet?

Hi Martin, I went down to Milford, nothin Godwin gthere either at anchor or on drift. Went back up to Sowley, there were a few boats there. Stopped for a couple of casts but ws v weedy and wasn’t feeling it...rain started so headed for home. Did catch first mackerel of the year though at Milford so not all bad!
Will be out again soon for sure.
Hope you are well and have managed some fishing the last months.
Johnny
